After two consecutive summers driving the same Helsinki – Barcelona route (and back) via Sweden, this time I wanted to test something different, trying a shorter route which happened to be even cheaper.

Turns out the answer wasn’t Via Baltica through Poland. It was the opposite of what I expected: more time on a ferry via Germany, but much less time behind the wheel.

Was it worth it? Absolutely.

Was the ferry the better choice? Hmm… Thirty hours stuck onboard with only a corner of deck 11, deck 12, the pet relief areas, and our cabin as pet friendly options, with not a single restaurant or common space indoor as pet friendly options is not enough.
